Another Fire Protection Upgrade Complete

Deficient OS and Y tamper switch replaced on a commercial fire sprinkler system

Today, the Fairfield Fire Protection team replaced two deficient OS&Y tamper switches, keeping this fire sprinkler system code-compliant and ready when it matters most.

What’s an OS&Y Tamper Switch — and Why Does It Matter?

OS&Y (Outside Screw & Yoke) tamper switches monitor the main control valves on a sprinkler system. If a valve is moved from the fully open position, the switch sends a supervisory signal to the fire alarm panel—alerting you before your building is left unprotected.

When a tamper switch is damaged, misaligned, or not working properly, a valve could be shut without anyone knowing. That’s why routine inspections and quick repairs like this are critical to life safety.
