Fairfield Fire Protection encourages everyone to “adopt” a fire hydrant in your neighborhood this winter
When snow piles up, fire hydrants can disappear fast — and that can cost firefighters valuable time during an emergency. That’s where you come in!
Here’s how you can help:
- Clear at least 3 feet around the hydrant
- Remove snow and ice buildup
- Make sure there’s a clear path to the street
- Keep hydrants visible — don’t let snowbanks hide them
In a fire emergency, every second matters. A buried hydrant can slow response time when it matters most.
Think of it as being a winter hero with a shovel. Small effort, big impact.
If you see a damaged hydrant or have fire protection concerns at your property, we’re here to help.
